I Do! Now, What Have We Gotta Do?!

October 10th, 2017

Congratulations! Your significant other has popped the question, and once you have celebrated your engagements, now the fun begins! But when it comes to planning your wedding day, what are the things that take the biggest priority right at the start? It can be very overwhelming to try and get stuck into every single aspect of planning a wedding, so what are the things that you need to cross off your list first and foremost?

Set A Timetable

Everyone will ask you as soon as you get engaged when the big day is coming. So you should think about when you would like to get married, so would you prefer it in winter or summer? And also you may want to think about any family events that may conflict with your big day, as well as any major holidays. The average engagement usually lasts around 15 months, so in this respect, you may think you’ve got loads of time, but in reality, this is far from the case!

The Venue

This is something you need to get onto right away, your dream wedding venue could be booked up for years to come. So if you want your wedding to be the fairytale you have always dreamt of, in a beautiful location, that is absolutely perfect, then you need to start thinking about renting venues for holding your big day, but also where are you going to have the ceremony? Is it going to be a different place to the venue? If you don’t want to get married in a church, a lot of people have their wedding in the same place as reception, which makes life easier logistically!

The Guest List

This is probably the thing that will cause the most headaches in planning your big day. You may be limited in how many guests you can bring on the big day, because the venue may not be able to accommodate everyone. You’ll need to think about the quality time you can have with each guest, and if you have a few close friends, would it be better just to invite them, rather than the world and his wife? The quality of the time spent with your loved ones is something you need to think about, and because it is these moments that will make your day truly special. It’s also worth thinking that the more people you invite, the higher the budget will have to be. Catering costs, for example, are usually charged on a per-head basis.

Get The Dress

In reality, it can take forever to pick the perfect wedding dress, and then once you have picked it, alterations need to be made, which adds another few months to the process. So it’s vital that you start thinking about what it is you want to wear now and consider the types of styles, but no doubt you will find plenty of inspiration, which isn’t the problem. The major problem is bringing down that inspiration to a handful of dresses, and then having to pick the one!

Everybody will tell you that time is never on your side when it comes to planning a wedding, which is why you need to get these things out of the way first! But remember to enjoy your engagement too!
