Differences Between Radiant Cut And Princess Cut Diamond Rings

August 17th, 2017

It is not easy to look for an engagement ring and if you are looking for a diamond engagement ring, the task will become all the more difficult due to the different types of diamond rings available. Due to this, people find it hard to choose and decide which one to go for. When it comes to diamond rings, princess cut diamond and radiant cut diamond are two extremely popular choices. Both are similar in a lot of ways but quite different from an expert’s perspective.

Shape Of The Diamonds

One of the biggest differences between a radiant cut and princess cut diamond ring is that the former is typically found in a square shape but there are certain rectangular cut diamonds too. The former in contrast is typically found in square shape. The radiant cut diamond also has cut corners while the princess cut does not.

Diamond facets have polished surfaces and are flat. Both diamonds, radiant cut and princess cut, have different facets. The princess cut has a total of 76 facets whereas the facets of the radiant cut are comparatively less (62-70).

With respect to popularity, princess cut diamond rings are more popular and their popularity has shown an upward trend in the US since many years. You will find more princess cut diamond rings as compared to radiant cut rings today. This is not only due to their look but also the fact that the princess cut diamonds are designed in such a way that diamond cutters can get about two princess cuts from a given diamond.

One more distinguishing feature between radiant cut and princess cut diamond rings is the crown of the diamond. The crown is the area that falls between the high end (top) part of the diamond and its widest part. Both radiant cut and princess cut diamonds have a similar crown. This is one feature that the two have in common. The only difference in the crown of the two is that the radiant cut has a slightly higher crown than the princess cut.

Light Reflection

Another thing to note about the two diamond cut rings is the light reflection. Diamond rings reflect light in different patterns. The radiant cut diamond formulates a circular pattern whereas the princess cut diamond reflects light in a way that forms an X.

The top 5 wedding rings for 2015

February 17th, 2015

Springtime is just around the corner and nothing inspires proposals more than the wedding season. Proposals mean ring purchases, so the hunt begins. Many styles never go out of fashion, but some find a resurgence in popularity at times. We’ve come up with the top 5 wedding rings for 2015 for your convenience.

Diamond Cluster Rings are a perfect choice for someone who is on a strict budget. Clusters or “Pavé” diamonds are a group of smaller diamonds that weigh the same as a single stone, but cost significantly less. You have the option of a much larger ring and good quality, yet smaller diamonds. Cluster settings look fabulous in platinum, gold, white gold, yellow gold and rose gold. The sparkle is exquisite and the look is impressive.

Gemstone Rings are a perfect way to stand out from the crowd. Sapphires, Emeralds, and Rubies are all precious stones and make a beautiful alternative to the traditional diamond. Morganite (sometimes referred to ‘pink emerald’) has become very popular as of late. The soft pink stone is a variety of beryl. Morganite is the pink stone of love. It is said to carry energy that can warm the wearer’s soul. Morganite is limited in availability, making it rather expensive. Gemstone rings are definitely one of the top 5 wedding rings for 2015.

Fancy Diamond Shape Cuts like cushion, emerald, and Asscher, have become increasingly popular. Cuts that were more popular in the 19th and early 20th century are now in demand. A cushion cut is rising above the princess cut which has been popular for years. The cushion cut has a soft shape with curved sides gives it a timeless feel. The emerald and Asscher cut diamond have a faceted pattern that is quite distinct lending itself to dynamic light and dark planes in the stone. The Asscher cut is similar to an emerald but in a square shape. The cut emphasizes brilliance and clarity. An emerald cut is a rectangle shape with a step cut pattern. The cut creates light and dark planes that are very reflective. Less brilliant than an Asscher or Princess cut but very elegant. With the beauty of a Fancy Diamond Shape we couldn’t help but add it to our top 5 wedding rings of 2015.

Rose Gold Engagement Rings have become the hot new metal for engagements rings this season. The copper hue offers a luxurious warmth set next to a vibrant diamond or rich ruby. To get the rose gold color, pure gold and copper are mixed with a bit of silver to get the perfect rose color. The contrast of diamonds against the rose gold offers stunning results. Rose gold was very popular in Russia in the 19th century and was called Russian Gold at the time. The 21st century has seen a resurgence of rose gold and many couples are choosing it for their engagement and wedding bands.

Halo Engagement Rings have been a favorite for some time, but the popularity doesn’t seem to be losing steam anytime soon. The Halo is yet another contender for the top 5 wedding rings for 2015. Not only does it have a glamorous sparkle, it is the perfect mix of modern and vintage. The halo setting allows for a more economical purchase. Carat weight is maximized by the smaller halo diamonds around the main diamond, giving the illusion of a much bigger ring. The smaller center stone allows for a better quality stone. The halo setting also looks great with any center stone cut. Whether it is Princess, round, oval, your setting will look spectacular.

Lucky Day: Rain Brings Diamonds to Newlywed Couple

May 27th, 2014

The old wives’ tale says that rain on your wedding day brings blessings of fertility and fresh starts. For newlyweds Kelly and William Schultz, it brought diamonds and gold from Perry’s Fine, Antique & Jewelry’s Ring in the Rain program.

A friend suggested Kelly and William travel from their home in Four Oaks, N.C., to Charlotte, N.C., to purchase their rings from Perry’s Fine, Antique & Estate Jewelry in the SouthPark area, a major shopping destination in the Carolinas. William made the trip to select a unique engagement ring, and then the couple came back for wedding bands. They signed up for Perry’s Ring in the Rain program on the chance it might rain on their wedding day. It cost them nothing extra, so why not. The program refunds the price of your engagement ring or wedding band up to $5,000 if it rains an inch or more at Charlotte Douglas International Airport on your wedding day (regardless of where you live or get married).

On April 19 while Kelly and William were getting married in Wrightsville Beach, N.C., the National Weather Service reported 1.25 inches of rain fell in Charlotte – more than enough to win a refund on their ring. The couple returned to Charlotte on May 17 to collect their prize!

“We wanted a unique set of rings, since we are truly unique,” said the new Mrs. Schultz. “Perry’s worked with us to find exactly what we wanted.” Kelly’s band is a custom design by Perry’s jeweler Todd Fogle. The engagement ring and the two wedding bands were included in the refund up to $5,000.
